Yesterday, I finally launched a new cool app/service that I was working on for the last several months.

To be really honest the last 1-2 months were mostly procrastination in one form or another.

The project was 90% ready. Some content needed to be added on the site & some design tweaks were left but I stopped moving forward.

Then were all kinds of thoughts passed through my mind

  • Is the tool really needed?
  • Who is going to use it?
  • Why did I start it?
  • Is it going to be one of those failed products of mine?
  • Should I just not launch it and just stay with the enjoyment of the journey without crossing the finish line?
  • I have several (urgent) client projects to work on. Hmm, convenient, right?
  • Maybe I’ll experiment with android apps

Several months ago I changed morning routine to start with motivational audio/videos. Even if it’s only for a few minutes that’s ok. I already knew some of the information but I kept on listing so the good ideas go into my subconscious mind.

In one of the videos Tom Bilyeu mentioned this Mark Twain quote:

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and starting on the first one.”

― Mark Twain

Another issue was that I was trying to see all the pieces at once and also to figure out how each piece was going to be implemented all in my head. That was stressful.

In Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz the author suggests that the creative process is not forced. Start and let it unfold.

Another thing that also helped me was that I am part of a SaaS mastermind group that the 3 of us have started: Hannah Wright | HR Partner (HRPartner.io), Miha Stanovnik (PredictLeads.com). The goal is to help each other as much as possible, share what we’ve learned and to hold each other accountable for our goals. We meet twice a month at 11AM EST and share our progress and goals for the next two weeks.

If you’re a person who likes to give & share their experience go to: http://saasgroup.io/ and apply.

Over the years I have learned that it’s extremely important to learn to finish things (or at least get to v1.0) otherwise there are so called open-loops which are just like when you have too many tabs open in your browser. This slows down your computer and you have to check each tabs in order to find the one you need because there’s no space for the page title.

Whatever we do repetitively can and will become a habit. If it's bad it will slow down or stop your progress regardless if you realize it or not.

I started moving forward little by little and started gaining great momentum. I couldn’t f**** stop. It felt great.

If you’re curious what the service about: WP Move is a free service that allows you to migrate a WordPress site from one hosting provider to another. The idea is to make the servers *talk* to each other rather than having to download the whole site on your computer. As a result the transfer happens much quicker even if the site is in GB.
