Hi, I’ve just installed and created a Child Theme, following the steps in your tutorial (video). However, when the child theme is activated, it says it’s installed but missing a style.css file. I can clearly see that the style.css file is in the child theme folder so why do I get this message and how do I fix it?

    Thanks,
    Hanna

You have to make sure that the child theme is activated and not the parent theme.
As far as I remember if you try to activate a theme that doesn’t have a style.css file wordpress will *complain* about that.
Also, if when the plugin can’t create a child theme this is 99.99% due to themes folder being not writable by the web server.
If that’s the case check with your hosting provider.

Another thing is if the child theme is being ignored then check with the author of the theme you’ve used.
